Rain on my shoes
It rarely rains in the bay, and in when it does, it happens in inconsistent spurts. Downpours will suddenly erupt from a clear sky, and ominous clouds can produce nothing but a light sprinkle. Two days of clouds and rain showers can easily be followed by a week of warm weather and clear skies. After living here for more than three years, I have developed a habit of keeping a rain jacket in my desk, and a spare sweater in my bag. The sidewalk always smells and even tastes better after it has been coated in wet. The water is clean, brought in from the ocean, absorbed into the sky with a force inconceivably strong, yet delicate, washing over the broken ground.
